Interesting what the major media considers news
What does it say when there is such little fanfare in the corporate media about Obama extending the unconstitutional Patriot Act this week? Not only did our President of change once again continue the authoritarian neo-con policies of his predecessor without any quibble from the pseudo-liberals, but the Republican attack dogs had little to say one way or the other about this supposedly important legislation. Just business as usual I guess. Maybe it's because all the instigators, flag-wavers, and Republocrat-Demican leaders have still not read it. Just label it "good for the security of the country", and Right and Left goose-step into formation regardless of the true contents and consequences. God help our children, because their parents' leaders sure aren't.

I'm shocked!
What a huge surprise! My local major newspaper refused to print my letter to the editor questioning the US sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia. Maybe I should stick to the mud-slinging game between the Republicrats and the Democans. I'm sure that would be unique and news-worthy.

Letter to Editor of local major paper concerning $30B of weapons to Saudi Arabia
I realize I am one of those lunatic fringers who (due in large part to the incredible number of discrepancies, inconsistencies, and lies from official sources concerning our Republican and Democratic leaders’ foreknowledge; response; explanations; cover-up; and departmental, corporate, and foreign allies’ assistance, as well as watching what was portrayed on TV and other major media) believe that it wasn’t just 19 cave dwellers with laptops and box-cutters, and their Bedouin support group, who baffled and breached our mighty, kazillion dollar defense and intelligence communities for two hours on September 11, 2001 to inflict on us one of the greatest attacks in our history.
Still, I would think anyone with a shred of reflection who actually reads the first section of your paper would have to question giving $60 Billion of high tech weapons to Saudi Arabia (US to sell $60 Billion in Advanced Arms to Saudi, AP, 10/20/2010) considering that 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers, as well as Osama bin Laden were from Saudi Arabia; and that our modern history of arming our supposed allies too quickly returns billions of dollars of debt and thousands upon thousands of dead and maimed Americans and indigenous innocents.
How deep is this rabbit hole?

Naturally, our ever-protective, ever-lying government has had proof of the dangers for at least a decade. Ten plus years of lathering sanctioned poisons on ourselves and our kids at the government's and other official studies' recommendations.
To inform us citizens of the health and life threatening effects, however, might be detrimental to some corporate profits and stock prices. Fricking liberal press!
Don't worry though. The government still won't tell the people, or do anything to stop the poisons or profits. And only a few will give any attention to these kinds of meddlesome, communist articles. Even fewer will change their convenient spending habits.

On More Toll Roads
This morning’s Philadelphia Inquirer contained another disturbing story concerning the privatization of state roads. Columnist Joseph N. DiStefano continues to prime the populace for more toll roads. He states that in earlier years there were many toll roads.
But those roads were built by private interests whose investment needed to be repaid. When the government built the highway system it was with tax dollars and for the benefit of the citizens, not for the profits of transnational corporations.
Naturally the Republican-Democrat Party is all for giving our roads to the corporations. The politicians will probably be exempt from having to pay, just as they get so many perks the average citizen does not enjoy.
DiStefano quotes a lawyer, Frank M. Rapoport, who will make hundreds of thousands, if not millions, off this give-away. Rapoport states as if it’s the most logical move in the world that “Nobody’s against this.” Obviously this opportunistic a-hole does not even consider all the little people who will have to curtail some of their activities because of the extra financial burden, nor the small businesses that will be hindered by these extra transportation costs.
There are three obvious answers for the problems of infrastructure repair and maintenance that the tolls are supposed to address. The first is to get the large corporations and extremely wealthy individuals to pay their fair share of taxes instead of paying their lawyers and accountants to finagle their books and avoid their tax obligations.
The second option is to stop giving money to other countries to buy their influence on short-sighted policy agendas that benefit the transnationals. We all know that the majority of this money goes to corrupt individuals with the power in those countries, or is used to pay for projects that enrich those individuals and the corporations they hire, all to the detriment of the common folk of the host countries.
The third option is to stop paying trillions for the illegal, immoral and failed wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that have killed, maimed, and displaced millions and millions of innocents, including many of America’s own young soldiers. Why are we paying companies like Halliburton to give lip service to rebuilding these countries we destroyed, while our own infrastructure continues to crumble? So that transnational corporations can pick up our assets and control our movements?
Any one of these options would pay for the rebuilding and maintenance of our roads. All three would allow our entire infrastructure to be properly maintained. Furthermore, the second and third options have benefits to America and the world well beyond just the rebuilding of our infrastructure.
Rapoport thinks creating and tolling just the express lanes would be a satisfactory solution. Typical elitist thinking! Let the unwashed masses sit in traffic while they watch the rich and powerful zip on by.
Let’s keep our roads free for the benefit of all America and their guests, and let’s pay for the necessary maintenance with the money we are now using to kill innocents, to destroy countries, and to enrich the already rich and powerful.

Thank You, Jack Herer
One of the most important activists for the last 30 plus years in the struggle for personal freedom and common sense died last month. Jack Herer, author of The Emperor Wears No Cloths, died at age 70 on April 15, 2010. His book, though repressed by the mainstream, enlightened hundreds of thousands to the benefits of cannabis and to the manipulation and deceits of certain corporate entities and elite political concerns during the last century.
The information Mr. Herer exposed in his book was very important to my understanding of the world, and to the writing of my own book. I pray others will follow his lead and have the courage and ability to continue the struggle for practical agricultural, drug, and energy policies, and to expose the hypocritical and criminal elements of our elected and appointed officials and their ties to corporate profits.
The prohibition of cannabis is one of the keys to understanding who runs the world, why, and how. Repealing the laws enforcing this prohibition will go a long way to creating a more free, honest, and healthy earth and society.
I thank Mr. Herer again, and offer my condolences to his family, friends, and associates.
